It was way pass midnight when the two nationally acclaimed super heroes, decided to start jumping and climbing the roofs on Terry City. Mad at Electrolysis, Hydroponiko’s intention was clear. At the end of his crusade, there should only be one superhero working the harsh streets. Electrolysis and Hydroponiko, two superheroes with adventure filled lives, little did they know this night would reveal their most powerful yet final of them all…
HidroPoniko, with the ability to condense vast amounts of water vapor and moisture, and propel them forward in the form of a dense water jet – such jet being capable of even cutting thru metals - was wearing his blue pointy outfit while he galloped the big antenna on top of the city radio station. Feeling persecuted, Electrolysis, on her red and yellow majestic suit, jumped from one building to the next trying to polarize each beam of water and transform them into its primary elements: Oxygen and Hydrogen. This feat alone, was considerably pissing HydroPoniko.
“Damn it, you fame stealer! Stay still so that I can give you the bath you deserve!” HydroPoniko, yelled at the now far away antagonist. Electro, as she was referred to by the media, found the perfect opportunity to fire one of her high amperage blast of lightning like energy onto her opponent. The distance was just too much, giving a good chance for HidroPoniko to dodge it.
“You want to bathe me? I am going to give you three years of the electric chair in a single second if you don’t stop attacking me!” the heroine warned the furious man.
Apparently, a few weeks before, HidroPoniko had saved a child who was drowning on a pool at the City Central Elementary School. Close to the same time, Electrolysis had saved a girl that had fallen on the Lion’s cage at the zoo. Reporters went crazy writing both stories, but by pure chance, they came out the same day the newspaper had decided to publish a special article on female super heroes. HidroPoniko’s tale was basically ignored. And he took it personal!
Electrolysis decided to get closer to her adversary, the risk of doing so growing clearer on her mind. She had to dodge a few more water beams before getting to less than 30 feet distance from Hydro. “Lets solve this in a friendly way, Hydro! There has been a misunderstanding. I did not intend to rob you of your fame.” Electro asked politely, the man not ready to give it up.
“Balooney, Electro! I know you did it on purpose!” HydroPoniko said as he fired one of the deadliest forms of water rays. Molded as if it were a blade, it thrusts towards it target at a speed no reflex would allow a fast enough reaction. Luckily for Electrolysis, he had aimed at her leg and not a vital organ. He got his way though, the sharp blade of water cutting the lady superhero’s left leg below the knee.
With a shriek of pain – these superheroes were not invulnerable like Flepozoid – Electrolysis went for her wound, quickly starting to exert some pressure. It was not too critical, but she realized delaying cauterizing the open skin could result in further injury. Applying minuscule and tingling amounts of electricity to the area, she was able to stop the bleeding. At least for the moment…
Instead of growing angrier – a job she had left to the men – she decided to try and convince the torn apart superhero to stop his madness. “Come on Hydro! There is no need to do this. We have been friends for a very long time. Don’t you remember the time I saved your girlfriend, Elizabeth? Liz as you call her?”
“My wife you mean! And I would suggest you scream it a little bit louder so the entire city can discover my secret identity. I bet that will get me to the front page of the Daily Lighter.”
There was more than enough water on the air, so he fired again. This time, the two jets looked more like pipes, perhaps explaining why they were moving slower. With a quick jump, Electrolysis lifted her entire body. Her her head tilted towards the ground while her legs rotated in a beautiful circular motion only the best athletes can achieve. As if in slow motion, she saw the two water pipes pass her by. Once the short trip was over, she was standing still; ready to defend herself.
Not attacking, she had managed to bring the worst on Hydro, who was know firing water beams in a way never attempted before. Resembling a machine gun, huge amounts of smaller but equally denser water balls exited his hand. Moving forward and applying an electromagnetic force field, Electro was able to disseminate most of the balls outward, saving her skin a while longer.
They were now facing each other, 10 feet of separation being considered close range when dealing with powerful heroes like these two. Anyone that fired would have the advantage, the other most likely not being able to react in time. Seconds were long. Like in the old west, when the two shooters are ready to grab their guns and fire the opponent, Hydro was now concentrating large amounts of condensed water, while Electro had huge amounts of electrostatic energy swiveling around her. No one wanted to fire first.
Electrolysis thought on sending just a mild charge that would paralyze the man, there was no need to permanently hurt him. Polarizing a massive amount of electrons, now visible to the naked eye, she managed to gather a bolt in her spine, the center of all of her electrical activity.
Hydro, in seeing the woman readying herself to fire and most likely destroy him, let all of his water loose in a massive canon ball of ice followed by thousands water droplets at high pressure that resembled a sideway waterfall. It was gorgeous! Had there been lights, it would have been a showdown display not to be missed, like laser and firework shows on special holidays. Unfortunately, it was a vile attack the heroine now had to repel if she was to survive its deadly force.
Being electricity faster than jettisoned water, Electrolysis was able to release the bulk of her stored energy into mid air, where it managed to oppose the big fleeting ice ball. It exploded in countless small fragments, quickly evaporating. But there was not enough electricity to stop it all.
The small water droplets that followed the big ball were onto her, too late now to be dodged. One by one, she felt the stinging drops plummeting into her body, severing her skin and breaking her like minuscule bullets from a pellet machine gun. She looked at her hands filled with blood. Feeling like fainting, she let her body fell into the floor. Although it was hard, the floor felt soothing.
The blow had been lethal, Electrolysis now slowly waiting her certain death. Feeling a little bit of regret – he had not intended to kill her, just ruffle her a lot – HydroPoniko jumped to her side, landing right beside the badly hurt heroine. “I am sorry, I don’t know what came over me! It was not supposed to end this way.”
Electrolysis motioned towards her mask, making her last wish clear. “You want me to remove your mask? Why?”, HydroPoniko asked. She had little strength left to answer the question. Without wasting any more time, Hydro ripped the mask of her head. Beautiful silky brown hair waived all over the place until it finally stopped, resting at HydroPoniko’s lap
He almost fainted when he saw her face. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen in his life, his wife Liz. “What? Oh my God! Why didn’t you tell me?” the terrorized man hugged his dying wife who pulled all her remaining strength to…
“How much clearer did you want it, Hydro? Electro… Liz… Is…” were her final words.
