I have a bet with a friend. He says there is life after death (LAD), I say there is none. You die and you rot. So we have agreed to put this statement to a test, by means of a bet, and mock the looser for eternity. If after we both die we simply rot and there is nothing else (no consciousness that lives on, a heaven or hell, or any form of re-encarnation, etc.) then I win the bet. If on the other hand after we die, we find ourselves in a place where we are either going to enjoy eternal life or simply choose what is our next step, then he wins the bet.
The flaw on this bet is that the only way in which I can win, is by loosing! Because if I do win the bet, I won’t be able to mock him. Do check out my tomb every now and then, though. Maybe I become resourceful enough to find a way to do so, which you will know if you hear my laughter after 10:00 PM at night. Spooky!
However, I am guessing we will both loose (because I won). And this is because I am certain there is no LAD! Science has not been able to find the slightest hint of evidence towards said concept. Every time a “scientist” offers his view on how LAD is possible, he/she is clearly saying “I am a retard, please mock my name on every science journal and make sure I can not even be eligible for a Nobel Prize”. Why can’t science consider LAD and research it like they research the cosmos and the laws of physics? Because it is a waste of time and money! These guys know what they are doing! And if you do find research on LAD conducted by “scientists”, I am actually talking about real scientists, not “scientists”. OK?
LAD is based on a philosophical principle called “Blind by Desire” (BBD). Humans are experts on this field. When we want something badly (and living forever clearly tops the list) we will come up with all the possible reasons to make it true. Because we are blind, these reasons look as real as they can be. In fact, it matters not how many scientific experiments are done that disprove these reasons, the only possibility on these folks’ mind is that these experiments must be wrong!
BBD has been playing a role since the humans became humans. The Egyptians believed in the return of the soul. They had the most amazing methods to preserve the body. Unfortunately they were ignorant enough to discard the mummy’s brain, which leads me to believe if their return from the grave does take place, they will have a horde of moron governors. I am guessing some people could use this as evidence when we look at some of our presidents. Hmmm.... Maybe I will loose that bet after all!
The Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims all believe in some sort of LAD, although it varies quite a bit. Hence the concept of LAD is not new. We did not start to think in LAD because certain experiments showed evidence of something weird and then it led us to LAD. We believe in LAD because since the beginning of man, dying and having our beloved dying was so terrifying that we wanted to believe death was not the end. Then we created the different concepts and ways to make it happen.
Now, being me a truly open minded guy, let me explain all the possible scenarios and then you can choose which one to abide to.
- There is no life after death whether you believe it or not
- There is life after death whether you believe it or not
- There is life after death only if you believe it and no life after death for those that could not believe in it.
That’s it! There is no other option for LAD. Which brings me to a very good point from another friend. As he says “It is best to believe in LAD because if there is nothing, then I loose nothing, but if there is and I lose it because I did not believed in it, then I am a true moron”. It matters not how much of a skeptic I am, I can not disagree with this! He is right! At least he is not blinded by desire. He is blinded by reason, which is way better.
Hence, if the third option holds true, both my bet-friend and I will win the bet. Too bad he will be the only one laughing...
