Star Wars are either the coolest movies on the Universe, or just a way to win the looser stigmata forever. Some people love it, others hate us. Hence, I am running a big risk by explaining one of the most important teachings of all times, by citing the great Yoda.
Luke was desperate. He wanted to see the great Warrior Yoda. But the little green creature asks for a little patience. Luke, of course, has none!
I have been like Luke for so long. Patience is not my thing. In fact, I am so hasty some times, I have to redo and redo my projects because the hurry screw them up. Hence I have had to learn that patience is one of the most important virtues an human may posses. And I can show this in so many ways...
Take for example a diamond. It is one of the most precious (if not the most) rocks on this planet. It is not only beautiful, but strong as well. Guess what? It takes millions of years for the ugly carbon, to become the gorgeous diamond. The more it takes, the better it looks. And more expensive it is.
Of course you can take a piece of carbon rock, pressurize it at humongous pressure levels, and WALA! A diamond comes out. But it was done so fast, that it is yellowish, imperfect, and of course, cheap.
As humans, we are always trying to make the diamond today! We want it to be gorgeous, though. Guess what? It can not be done!
You can not get rich today. You can not loose all the fat today. You can not look like a model today. You can do it in a few weeks if you work today and tomorrow, but it is going to take time! There is a reward, though. The more it takes, the more beautiful the diamond is!
Do not confuse having patience with not doing a thing. Having patience is working like crazy without seeing results. Results will come, but not today.
Patience means exercising every day, undergoing hunger, and watching your weight remain the same. All of a sudden, you look at the mirror, you pass your hands through your arms, and you say "Holy crap! This was not there, the other day!"
Patience means working hard at your job, getting up early, talking to prospects, and getting no client or sales. But then somebody joins your organization, who then brings somebody and as you look at your group it is way larger than it was! And money starts to pour in!
Lastly, I have seen it to many times. The Universe will grant you everything you request. You don't know when. But it will happen! It may take years. It may take decades. But patience is the only transportation method to get there sane.
Hence, every morning as I lift my dumbbells and run on the treadmill, I then look at the mirror and see not a glimpse of a muscle. But I say: "Patience my friend! For the Jedi it is time to eat as well!" It has been slow, but every day I am less hungry...
