Post Episode III R2D2 Work

R2D2Front

By Episode III (and Avayanic R2D2’s debut at the Tinseltown Movie Theater), the unit was as finished as it would get. Working on it structurally would mean repainting and adding too many changed which are far beyond the scope of the project. In this series of pages I detail the other aspect of this endeavor (which should have been the first aspect). ELECTRONICS!

It is very curious that at first I told everybody I was building an R2D2 unit so that I could have a place to put my electronic circuit designs. However, this project lacks all the electronics it should have had. And because so much efforts were taken for the unit to look like an R2D2 (not necessarily work like one), there is very electronic components that can be added.

Per example, this is a remote controlled robot which will last about 30 minutes in motion, before the batteries are drained. This is only with the two leg motors moving! No computer, sensory input or any other peripheral, and the robot dies after 30 minutes. Hence, adding anything else is ridiculous and totally useless. Too bad! It would have been nice to train R2D2 to be a butler as many of my friends requested...
